Staff Development Workshops

The following workshops are based on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator®, with “Understanding Personalities at Work” being the foundational and pre–requisite workshop for the ensuing workshops.

Understanding Personalities at Work with the MBTI

The MBTI is the worlds most widely used and trusted personality instrument for building increased understanding of individual differences and uncovering new ways to work and interact with others.

Workshop Length & Content

In this 2.5 hour workshop we administer the MBTI, which includes presenting a comprehensive overview of the 16 different personality types and how they play out in the workplace.

Participant Outcomes

Each participant will walk away from this workshop with:

  • an enhanced understanding of their own and others’ personality preferences
  • an enhanced understanding of how personality preferences impact work styles
  • clarity around their own and others’ strengths
  • positive strategies for ongoing personal development
  • their own copy of the booklet “Introduction to Type”

Team Building using the MBTI

Increased understanding of individual differences helps team members identify and appreciate the particular strengths each member brings to the team. This knowledge and appreciation helps to increase collaboration and reduce conflict by reframing potential sources of misunderstanding.

Workshop Length & Content

This 2 hour interactive workshop follows on from the “Understanding Personalities at Work” workshop, and includes activities aimed at enhancing team dynamics and performance.

Participant Outcomes

Each participant will walk away from this workshop with:

  • an enhanced understanding of how they prefer to function in a team
  • an enhanced understanding of how other personality types function best in a team
  • clarity around the positive contributions each type can make to a team
  • insight into some common drivers behind people’s choices, motivations & behaviours
  • their own copy of the booklet “Introduction to Type & Teams”

Improving Team Communication

Developing a working knowledge of how different personality types prefer to communicate and prefer to be communicated to, is one of the keys to building a high performance, low conflict team dynamic.

Workshop Length & Content

In this 2 hour workshop we explore preferred methods of communication for each personality type, and examine most effective strategies for communicating ideas, proposals, praise, presentations & feedback.

Participant Outcomes

Each participant will walk away from this workshop with:

  • a clear understanding of the preferred communication style for each personality type
  • the ability to identify frequent areas of misunderstanding between different types
  • strategies for modifying their own communication style to be most effective with others
  • their own copy of the booklet “Introduction to Type & Communication”

Effective Problem Solving & Decision Making

MBTI theory purports that the best decisions are made when incorporating each of the Judging & Perceiving functions; Sensing, Intuition, Thinking & Feeling.

Workshop Length & Content

In this 1 hour workshop we lead the group through an analysis of recent work–related decisions, identifying what they included and what may have been left out from a type perspective, and therefore how the outcome may have been improved upon.

Participant Outcomes

Each participant will walk away from this workshop with:

  • a clear understanding of how each of the Judging & Perceiving functions impact on the decision–making and problem solving processes
  • strategies for improving their decision–making and problem solving processes
